The Saône-et-Loire department was created in 1790( February 26th and March 4th decrees). It gathers, very odd geographical areas, without specific links and where very strong historical personalities lived.
Governing point between the north and the south, this area has always gained from its natural richness. Therefore it was populated very early, but coveted by invaders.
